Critical Minerals Portfolio

Copper Cu — Atomic No. 29

About the Mineral

Copper is the world’s third most widely used metal and the backbone of global electrification. The Zambia-DRC Copperbelt is the world’s most prolific copper-producing region outside the Andes. We export copper ore concentrate and blister copper from permitted Copperbelt operations, with grades verified by independent assay.

Key Industrial Applications

Electrical wiring and power cables · Electric vehicle motors and charging infrastructure · Renewable energy systems (solar, wind) · Industrial machinery and heat exchangers · Construction and plumbing · Telecommunications infrastructure

Cobalt Co — Atomic No. 27

About the Mineral

The DRC produces over 70% of the world’s cobalt, and Zambia accounts for a further significant share. Cobalt is a critical mineral for lithium-ion battery cathodes, superalloys and industrial chemicals. We supply cobalt hydroxide and cobalt concentrate from southern DRC and Zambia’s Copperbelt, where cobalt occurs as a by-product of copper mining.

Key Industrial Applications

Lithium-ion battery cathodes (NCM, LCO) for EVs and consumer electronics · Rechargeable battery production · Aerospace superalloys for jet engines · Hard metal cutting tools · Industrial catalysts · Magnetic alloys

Tantalite (Coltan) Ta — Atomic No. 73

About the Mineral

Columbite-tantalite (coltan) is the primary ore of tantalum, one of the world’s most strategically critical minerals. The eastern DRC holds an estimated 60–80% of global coltan reserves. We source coltan from verified ITSCI-programme sites across DRC and Zambia, with full conflict-minerals documentation. The global tantalum market is valued at USD 2.74 billion (2024) and growing at 7.9% CAGR to 2034.

Key Industrial Applications

Tantalum capacitors for smartphones, laptops and EVs (46% of all tantalum use) · Aerospace turbine blades and superalloys · Semiconductor fabrication · Medical implants and surgical instruments · Chemical processing equipment · 5G infrastructure components

Tin (Cassiterite) Sn — Atomic No. 50

About the Mineral

Cassiterite is the principal ore of tin, sourced from artisanal and small-scale mining operations in the DRC and Zambia. Tin is an ITSCI 3T conflict mineral subject to full traceability requirements. We supply cassiterite concentrate with documented chain of custody and ITSCI certification, sourced from registered and audited sites.

Key Industrial Applications

Electronic soldering and circuit board manufacturing · Food-grade tin coating for packaging · Lead-free solder alloys · Industrial bearings and coatings · Chemicals and PVC stabilisers · Bronze and pewter alloy production

Nickel Ni — Atomic No. 28

About the Mineral

Nickel demand has grown at 6–8% annually in recent years, driven by its critical role in EV battery cathode chemistries and stainless steel production. Zambia hosts nickel deposits associated with Copperbelt geology. We source nickel ore and concentrate from Zambian operations, with grades and specifications confirmed by independent assay.

Key Industrial Applications

EV battery cathodes (NMC chemistry) · Stainless steel production (68% of all nickel use) · Superalloys for aerospace and power generation · Electroplating and surface coatings · Industrial catalysts · Rechargeable battery manufacturing

Titanium Ti — Atomic No. 22

About the Mineral

Titanium ore (in ilmenite and rutile forms) is found in Zambia and the broader Central African region. Titanium is valued for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. Global titanium demand is expanding rapidly across aerospace, defence, medical and emerging clean energy applications.

Key Industrial Applications

Aerospace and defence structural components · Medical and dental implants · Marine and offshore structures · Sports equipment and high-performance vehicles · Chemical processing equipment · Pigment production (TiO2) for paints and coatings

Zinc Zn — Atomic No. 30

About the Mineral

Zinc is the fourth most widely consumed metal globally, with Zambia hosting significant zinc deposits alongside its copper resources. Zinc ore and concentrate are exported from Zambian operations. Zinc plays an expanding role in battery technology (zinc-air batteries) alongside its established applications in steel protection and alloys.

Key Industrial Applications

Galvanising steel against corrosion · Die-casting alloys for automotive components · Brass and bronze production · Zinc-air battery technology · Agricultural micronutrients · Rubber manufacturing and chemical production

Manganese Mn — Atomic No. 25

About the Mineral

Africa holds approximately 40% of the world’s manganese reserves. Manganese is essential for steel production and is a rapidly growing component of EV battery chemistries, particularly in high-manganese and manganese-rich cathode materials designed to reduce cobalt dependence. We source manganese ore from Zambia and the DRC.

Key Industrial Applications

Steel alloying (essential for hardness and strength) · EV battery cathode materials (LMFP, NMC) · Manganese dioxide for dry-cell batteries · Aluminium alloy production · Water treatment chemicals · Fertilisers and animal feed supplements
